Ensuring that a connected multimodal system feeds into the transit network will expand people’s ability to rely on transit and lessen dependency on the automobile. Supporting technological advancements to integrate payment options and partner with shared mobility providers are key to increasing access to transit while reducing friction.

Transit 5.1

Prioritize pedestrian improvements connecting residents to transit service, including completing missing links in the sidewalk network, safe crossings at high volume intersections and maintaining pedestrian access through construction zones.

Significant milestone(s):

Public Works is exploring partnership opportunities with shared bike and scooter providers and Metro Transit to implement effective micro transit programs. Public Works has installed additional mobility hubs in key locations.

Work with Metro Transit to understand capacity constraints of front bike racks and identify solutions for increasing capacity.

Note:

The City is prepared to support Metro Transit in evaluating whether additional capacity is needed for bike racks on buses and identifying solutions. Some newer Metro Transit buses have already added bike racks to accommodate bikes with wider tires.
